Website migration

How to move your website to new hosting with no downtime, no lost data and no lost email — or have ONQU do it.

Moving your website to new hosting

Switching hosts is usually straightforward if you plan it. The aim: no downtime, no lost data and no lost email.

  1. Take a full backup

Files and database. Keep a copy on your own computer as well as the host’s.

  2. Check where your email lives

If email is with your old host, move or set it up first — this is where most migrations go wrong.

  3. Copy the site across

Use a migration plugin or your new host’s tool, then test it on a temporary address.

  4. Point your domain

Update DNS to the new host, then check SSL, forms and logins once it switches.

  5. Cancel the old hosting

Only after everything works on the new host — and you’ve kept your backup.

Rather we did it?
